Stanley Ho: Founder of Chess Champions

Hey there! My name is Stanley and I am currently a freshman at Marin Catholic High School. When I'm not playing chess, I am probably either playing videogames or playing sports with my friends. I was introduced to playing chess by my dad in first grade and have been playing actively throughout my life. I got the idea of Chess Champions after volunteering at Saint Isabella's Chess Club and was inspired to go out into my community and teach young kids about this wonderful game.

Sam Kurz: Co-Founder and Lead Instructor

What’s good there! I’m Sam Kurz, co-founder of the chess club. I’m from San Rafael, near the Glenwood area, and I’m a freshman at Marin Catholic. When you don’t see me hitting that chess grind you see me sitting on the bench at my basketball games or playing some video games with friends. I have a deep knowledge of chess and know every part about how the game works. I can also explain the basics in a way that is easy to understand. I love teaching kids about how this game works because I have a passion for it and I want to share it, so others can have it too.
